Desensitization to Food Allergens
What is food desensitization?
This procedure is primarily intended for children with persistent immediate-type food allergies. The aim is the gradual and controlled introduction of the responsible allergen at a very slow pace or in a modified form, allowing the body to gradually develop tolerance to it.
How is it performed and what is the goal?
The approach is individually tailored and carried out under strict medical supervision. A typical example is an allergy to milk or egg, where the overall duration of the allergy may be significantly reduced if the allergen is introduced into the child’s daily diet at an appropriate dose and in a heat-treated form (such as egg baked into a cake).
Benefits for the patient
The procedure aims to promote the resolution of the allergy while also reducing anxiety associated with accidental exposure and significantly improving the quality of life of the entire family.
Each desensitization protocol is individually designed and closely monitored, with particular emphasis on preventing allergic reactions and ensuring the gradual and safe reintroduction of foods into the daily diet.
